What does BSLM mean in UNCLASSIFIED

Building Sector Labour Mobility (BSLM) is a program that helps to ensure skilled workers in the building and construction industry can access work opportunities where they’re needed. The program works by providing a centralized system of registration, certification, and criminal record checks for those wishing to work in the building sector.

BSLM is administered by provincial governments across Canada. Each province has its own particular requirements for participation, but all follow the same set of guidelines established by the Canadian Construction Association.

One of the main advantages of BSLM is that it gives employers reassurance that their workers have quality training and experience in the field. It also provides contractors assurance that their workers will meet the necessary safety and professional standards associated with their jobs. Any qualified worker or contractor in the building trades can participate in BSLM. This includes tradespeople such as electricians, plumbers, carpenters, masons, welders, floor layers and HVAC technicians. Contractors must be registered with a provincial program before they may access other markets across Canada

Yes – each province has its own accompanying fees for registration and for maintaining certification under BSLM. Generally speaking these fees range from about $35-$150 depending on location and education/experience level
