Origin

The Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ukraine originated from the Reformed tradition which began in Scotland in the late 16th century. The denomination has roots in several countries such as Hungary, Poland, Lithuania, Slovakia, Romania and even Croatia. It was only during the independence of Ukraine that a movement for unification amongst this diversity of nationalities began under the leadership of Pastor Maksym Mykytsevych. Under his vision and zeal for spiritual renewal and edification, he saw that it was necessary to create an organization which would serve as a platform for uniting all those who wanted to follow the principles of reformed Christianity; thus cementing his role as founder of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ukraine (EPCU).

Beliefs

The beliefs held by members within the EPCU are based on Biblical truth found within Scripture. They adhere to orthodox creeds such as The Westminster Confession of Faith and The Heidelberg Catechism which establish their doctrinal framework. Additionally they affirm five distinctive doctrines which summarize their belief system including the Supremacy of Christ, Biblical Authority, Covenant Theory, Conversionism & Revivalism and Believer’s Baptism & Church Membership through immersion rather than other forms such as sprinkling or pouring water on individuals.

Practices

EPCU members actively practice worship services every Sunday as well as celebrate other religious holidays throughout the year specific to their denomination's beliefs. These include communion services during Easter Sunday where congregants receive bread wafers symbolizing Jesus's body broken for us alongside wine symbolizing His shed blood on our behalf. Furthermore community activities with an emphasis on service are common within each local congregation such as Bible studies focusing on topics central to Christian faith such as prayer or evangelism initiatives meant to bring greater awareness about Christianity to those outside its walls who may not know about its message yet long for something more than what this world can offer them in terms being loved by a higher power.
