What does OWA mean in ARCHITECTURE

The Organization of Women Architects (OWA) is a professional organization committed to advancing diversity and equality in architecture. OWA provides support and resources to members, encourages increasing the visibility of women architects, sponsors education initiatives, and facilitates networking and leadership opportunities.

Membership is open to all people interested in architecture regardless of gender identity or expression, ethnicity, ability, religion, or sexual orientation. The only requirement for membership is a passion for the profession.

When you become a member of OWA you gain access to exclusive events such as lectures and symposiums, discounts from partner organizations that provide tools you need to succeed in your field, and networking opportunities with other professionals in the architecture industry. Yes! We currently offer several scholarship programs aimed at helping students pursue their educational goals. We also offer fellowships that are designed for early career professionals looking take their practices into new directions. All applications must be submitted by a designated deadline determined by each program's guidelines.

As an OWA member, you will have access to our Online Architecture Library which provides comprehensive information on all aspects of building design and practice including tutorials on relevant software packages such as AutoCAD and Revit. Additionally we provide helpful articles related to topics such as project management methods, green building strategies, latest regulations affecting the profession and much more!

Yes! As part of our mission statement we strive towards creating awareness about architecture through engaging workshops that spread knowledge about architectural history while infusing contemporary themes into everyday life experiences. Additionally these activities help us build relationships within communities that don’t normally interact with design professionals.

Our quarterly magazine features writings by members addressing current issues impacting the field which include case studies from ongoing projects as well as interviews with prominent female architects around the world who share their personal stories.
